What Makes the Grande Prairie Girls’ Chorus Unique?
Real credentials. Real community. Real music.
⸻
What sets us apart?
At the Grande Prairie Girls’ Chorus, we believe in more than just singing—we believe in building confident, skilled musicians through mentorship, technique, and heart. Here’s what makes our choir truly unique:
-Professional training you can trust
Our Artistic Director, Meghan Edgerton-Young, holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Music Diploma, and has over 20 years of experience in choral singing and music education. She’s studied under some of Canada’s most respected choral educators, including Michael Zaugg, Ardelle Ries, and Dr. John Wiebe—and has just completed her Kodály Level 1 Certification.
-Pedagogy first
We don’t just teach songs—we teach music. Our approach is grounded in vocal technique, age-appropriate pedagogy, and a deep respect for child development. We train singers for life, not just performance day.
-Decades in the making
Meghan joined her first choir at age 12 and never looked back. From humble beginnings to leading choirs of her own, she brings lived experience and lifelong passion to every rehearsal.
-Mentorship matters
Our team includes an assistant conductor and accompanist who model collaboration, leadership, and artistic excellence. Every singer is supported by a whole team that cares deeply about their growth.
-Committed to growth
We believe great educators never stop learning. That’s why we continue to invest in professional development—to bring the very best to our choristers.
⸻
The result?
A choir experience that’s musically rich, emotionally fulfilling, and genuinely transformative—for singers and their families.
We’re not the only choir in Grande Prairie.
But we are the only one like this.
